Tucson-Based Bands/Musicians wanted for local live shows

Tucson-Based Bands/Musicians wanted for local live shows

FOR A GREAT LOCAL PUB...CLICK HERE!!!

As a local writer here in town of a local blog LIVETUCSONLIFE I come in regular contact with a lot of the local business owners namely bars and pubs. And while writing on most of the bars that featured live entertainment, I noticed something ironic...The bars had trouble finding local bands and musicians to play their stage(s) on a regular basis.

The managers and owners of most of the bars where willing to hire live music to give their bar a nice touch, more of a local feel. Only they had no where to go contact the local bands/musicians or get a taste/sample of their music.
So this is a call formally to local artist ready to perform. If you have a nice sound and would the opportunity to perform live on stage and would like more info e mail: thegoldentoken@gmail.com. Let us know just how unique your sound is and hopefully we can get you in a local Bar or Pub so that the rest of Tucson can have a chance to hear your one of a kind music, live!

Working with so many local Bands and Bars seems only natural to pair the 2 together. So contact us let us know what kind of music you play and just how loud you want to play it! Some of the bars have their own sound equipment while others may not. So having your own set up would be a big benefit indeed.

Friday Night Live At Pearson's Pub

Well it finally happened... The Band played their “Preview” live performance to a packed house and it was a blast! I learned of an entirely new drink called Fireball, Fire shooter something to that effect (shows just how effective they actually were)! I learned possibly of one pf the best cooks in Tucson as he made me the best Cheeseburger I've had in a while.

The actual performance went great with the music coming across nice and even throughout the Bar. The songs were nice and fresh with the live feel I soon realized why they did in fact bring their own equipment to play on, they knew it!  The Band did in fact play a nice mix of songs from several genres including Rock, Country and a little bit of Blues. The 3 Guitar set went really well with the “Super Set” of Drums being owned by Tony “The Animal” on every note. To me it all seems to come across as nice and tight with everyone in since...you could tell immediately that there was a lot of time and energy put into this band's performance, they took themselves seriously and so did everyone else in Pearson's Pub last night.

I was introduce to the Fireballs, Fireshots @ $3 a pop. Apparently a Firetruck went by with a siren blaring and the Bartender announced “FireBall shots $3!!!, I was obviously was obligated, I mean this was Pearson's Pub they already had an existing reputation for fixing some of Tucson Best drinks. And I was here in person! I'd have to at least take a first hand account to write about, no since in taking anyone's word...right? So I ordered a couple, I was caught p in the moment the band was playing Sirens were blaring and the bartender was handing me liquor, I quickly forgot all about my “Biographer” discount and started swiping plastic.

The overall atmosphere within the bar itself was great, the outside was a really nice touch to the whole scene. As you could a t times simply go out and grab a breath of fresh air in between sets. Perhaps the the most interesting part of the night for me was the young lady I happened to sit next to and order my 1st drink. I found the Yellow shirt she was wearing most interesting for some reason and wanted to know why she wore it, so I asked her. I'm glad I did turns out she'd combined 2 of the most interesting professions into her own personal lifestyle, as a writer I'd hit the Jackpot in terms of interesting people with interesting personalities, This was Barb Nichols (see card) Tucson's only Game Show Host/DJ (see flyer) turns out in the all irony she's performing right here at Pearson's Pub tonight at 7 P.M. sharp! For more info click over to her website and take a look http://gotmusicentertainment.com/ .

***For a nice overall look at exactly what Barb does I suggest looking at her "About" page as it does a very nice thorough job of explaining  both her  and her services. To get a quick look at it simply CLICK HERE

She explained why she wore she the Yellow shirt, which quickly led to a trivia question now I was having fun (Alex Trebek, is one of my favorite people) which I got wrong (alcohol) but it generated a good laugh and we got to enjoy a nice drum solo by Tony “The Animal” that rocked the entire bar!!! and finally was kicking enough it even got a few people to get up and dance! The band was playing a good rhythm to a good crowd. there was food, drink and live music...seemingly there was no choice but to be merry! I took a few more trivia questions as I had a few more of these "Fire"  situations in the form of a Shot! I sat a while longer talking to Barb engaged in the most interesting of conversations and was even invited back tonight to partake in the Trivia Game Show scheduled to take place tonight, at Pearson's Pub. Apparently after the Trivia Game Show Barb is going into DJ "mode" and will then start Jammin' some tunes for us all to enjoy...So come on out tonight and participate in the Trivia Game Show meet Barb a truly awesome person, have some fun meet some new people and listen for a Siren in the process!!! And don't forget to leave room for a Cheeseburger, the cook is awesome!!! See you there tonight

The University Of Arizona Poetry Center - A Diamond In The Desert

The University Of Arizona Poetry Center - A place were a writer can go...where a Poet can grow.

As most writers know, especially Poets there aren't many dedicated outlets to the arts available in today's society. So for the University Of Arizona Poetry Center to even be in existence is a rarity in itself. A place were artist can go and learn. A place were the lost art of writing is still treasured by like minded individuals. Located on the campus of the University of Arizona in the Helen Schafer Building the Poetry Center promotes Poetic literature in every shape and form. Founded in 1960 by Ruth Walgreen Stephan a writer and philanthropist who began visiting Arizona in the 1930's the Poetry center has served the artistic needs of all ages ranging from K-12 and beyond.
The center has resources of all kind to offer in relation to the arts. Open artistic programs such as readings, classes, contest, workshops and so much more. The perfect place for the writer a true goldmine of both information and resources all dedicated to serving the endless soul of Poetry.
Ironically one  of the best features about the center is the simple fact that it is a place were you can go and "sit and read". A quiet place were a life can be appreciated on a much more manageable level. A much appreciation for life as shown within the lines of poems written by poets. With so much going on in life sometimes it can be hard to find a quiet place to sit. The Poetry can is the exception. Designed to be a place, just a quiet place to sit and read a book.

The Center Is Open Under The Hours Listed Below

The center has something for everyone as it even host as wildly popular "Family Day" meant to urge family participation in the arts as well as encourage early involvement
The Poetry Center fortunately always seems to have a full slate of events on hand. A great example is the January 30th reading by the well-renowned author Tan Lin. Lin author of more than 10 books will be making a personal appearance at the Poetry Center. Scheduled to read from his book followed by a Q & A session and  eventually concluding with book signings. A great opportunity to learn 1st hand valuable information directly from an established successful author like Tan Lyn.
The Poetry Center offers countless opportunities to artist, writers that other wise just wouldn't be available. An atmosphere conducive to the arts. One were creating is encouraged. A place were creativity is encouraged. A great place were ALL artistic boundaries can be lifted and soul allowed to run free! The center is a place were like minded spirits can openly and freely connect and together experience the pure power of Poetry.

The center itself is officially housed in the Helen S. Schafer Building, a 17,500-foot Poetry epicenter located firmly on the campus of the University Of Arizona here in Tucson Arizona. The building itself adds a nice amount of contemporary architecture flair to the campus. Designed by the prestigious firm of Line & Space, LLC the building has worn several awards based on it's architecture.
So this a call for any and all aspiring writers and poets to be sure and take advantage of the Poetry Center as resources such as this are soon to be extinct. Set aside a few hours to come down and see author Tan Lin in person. Ask a question, get a book signed buy something! Or whenever life just seems to be moving a little too fast, come into the Poetry Center and take a seat.
